  1. Listen hun, I was diagnosed with psd in 1996 when i was pregnant with my 2nd child. At that time there was very little knowledge about psd. I was having tia's alot up until my diagnosis at 4 months. It was very scary. I was referred to a neurologist because they had no clue what was going on. He took care of me through my whole pregnancy. I took lovenox 3 times a day until after baby was born. Then I took coumadin for a few years. Then they changed me to plavix so I wouldnt have to have the blood test all the time that coumadin requires. Maybe you could try to get a referral to a neurologist who is competent and comfortable treating psd. My doc said I was the first woman with documented psd to deliver a baby full term without having a stroke. They have my case study in the books. So it was very succesful. Just some advice from someone whos been through all of it. If you need to talk anymore or want anymore info from me, my email is shanypoo73@yahoo.com. Feel free to contact me anytime. Good luck. Dont give up!!!
  2. I was diagnosed with PSD back in 1996, when I was pregnant with my second child. I was on Lovenox therapy from about the 4th month to postpartum. Im not really sure about Vit B. Back then, PSD was even more rare than it is now. They were kind of running blind with me. I had multiple TIA's before starting Lovenox and a few even after. I never had a blood clot at any point and time. I have been on Coumadin, aspirin, plavix in the past. I currently take Aggrenox and have not had a TIA or any other problems for several years now. Knock on Wood!!! If there is anything else you want to know just send me a message. Shannon
  3. Hello All, Just wanted to put in my two cents worth here. I was diagnosed with PSD in 1996 when I was about 4 months pregnant with my second child. I guess from what I understand, there wasn't a whole lot of information on PSD or how to treat it then. My doctor sent me to a fetal maternal specialist who sent me to a neurologist. He was the one who decided to test me for PSD. He was the one who gave us the news and told us what to expect. I was his guinea pig I guess. He put me on one lovenox shot a day. Shortly after I had a TIA so he put me on two shots a day. Towards about the 7th month I had a really nasty TIA, that landed me in the ER and on OB floor all night. Thats when he put me on 3 shots and said if that didnt work he may have to put me in the hospital on IV heparin for the duration of my pregnancy. However it worked well and I went into labor on my own at about 39 weeks. I wasnt allowed an epidural because they were afraid of bleeding in my spinal column. So I went the journey on my own. Whew!!! Its rough when you were allowed pain relief the first time around but not the second. LOL. Anyway I had a healthy daughter and was to remain on lovenox shots for about 2 weeks I think. Only he lowered my dosage to two. I only had one TIA, but it passed quickly after I took my shots. He took me off of any blood thinners to see how I would do and he did blood tests again, to see where my PS levels were. I ended up having a pretty significant TIA shortly thereafter so he put me on coumadin. I stayed on coumadin for about 3 or 4 years, but I was a bad girl and did not go get my levels checked like I should have. He took me off of it because he was frustrated with me and thought we would just try aspirin for awhile and see if that would work. It did not of course. Had a TIA. That was when he put me on plavix and I have been on it ever since. Every once in awhile I will have a TIA. But they are always mild and go away quickly. That only happens maybe once or twice a year. I guess I can live with that. My daughter has been tested but my son has not yet. I think my mom has it because of some vision problems she has described to me. But getting her to go get tested is like pulling teeth. Anyway good luck to everyone getting pregnant. Best of luck to you all Shannon PS I forgot to say that i did have two misscariages before I got preg. the second time and I had one miscarriage after her. I went and got my tubes tied. I just couldnt deal with the heartache or worry again. I had two beautiful kids and that s good enough for me.
  4. I was just curious if anyone else takes plavix for psd. I seem to be the only person I know of that takes it. I would like to know how its been working for them and if they trust it? Please email me and tell me your story. My story is posted under James (do u have psd) thanx shannon
  5. Hello, My name is Shannon. I was diagnosed with psd about 7 yrs ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I started having alot of numbness and tingling in my arms and face. My OB had no idea what the problem might be. She sent me to a neurologist. He found the psd. I was on lovenox shots during pregnancy and delivered a healthy girl. After she was born I was put on coumadin. I had to have blood tests frequently. I wasnt a very good girl and didnt have my blood tests done as often as I should have. The doctor decided to take me off coumadin and see how I did. It wasnt long before I started having some vision problems and numbness. He then started me on Plavix. I have been on Plavix now for about 2 yrs. It seems to work pretty well. I have had a few minor spells, but nothing serious. Its a scary disease for me at times, but I go on with life and hope for the best. Thanks, Shannon
