  1. Blu, the only think different we did was i took progesterone during my last pregnancy and we had blood tests every 2 weeks then we went once a month for my lovenox levels. Most of the time we went up in my dose. This pregnancy has been a little different in the fact that I didn't do the progesterone and we pretty much have been testing my blood once a month. Almost 32 weeks and I'm hoping in 3-4 weeks this little guy will make his appearence on his own (no inductions). hope everyone else is doing well.
  2. Lynda, Welcome. I'm sorry for your losses. Congradulations on this pregnancy. Many prayers go out to you for a happy outcome. I feel this forum has lots of information both medical and from personal experience. I joined this site when I was pregnant with my first son and I was alone. There wasn't too many other women on here pregnant. I'm gather so much more information this time with so many other pregnant women going through some similar experiences. I hope we are able to help you through this pregnancy (with a happy ending).
  3. Hi Blu, I notieced that only Katybops responded to you on her experience with PSD and pregnancy. I thought I would give you my expreience. At 27 I got a DVT. I had been off and on coumidan for the clot. When I found out I was pregnant 3 years later (unexpectedly) I was taking the coumidan. I was not officially tested for PSD until my second miscarriage (the first was twins lost one at 8wks the other twin at 14 1/2 weeks). That pregnancy ended at 8 wks. I had started Lovenox during my first pregnancy but the damage had already been done. During my third pregnancy we started the lovenox before I got pregnant but also lost that pregnancy at 8 wks. After switching doctors and traveling 3 hours to a fertility clinic that knew about PSD I had a little boy (June 2002). He is healthy and happy. I was induced with no complications, other then he was a big baby. I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant with our second little boy. I've had some other medical issues this time not related to PSD. I have been a member here for 2 years. I find this forum to be very imformative. When I was pregnant with my son I knew of no ome that was pregnant that had PSD. I hope you find this forum informative. But remember to always ask your doctors about your medical concerns and questions.
  4. Welcome Brooke, I don't really have an answers for you. But you have come to the right place for information and support. I hope your pregnancy continues uneventful and you have a healthy happy baby.
  5. Hello Katybops and Stephanie, I'm currently doing Lovenox 100mg twice a day. I've been doing this since June 2004 and will continue till 6-8 weeks after delivery maybe longer. I hope your pregnancies are going well. I'm 25 weeks 2 days today and am so looking forward to June, I will probably be induced the week of June 21st.
  6. My little guy is only 1 1/2. He'll turn two just days before I have his brother. It is so nice to see everyone is doing so well. I go back to the doctor on the 22nd I'll be 25 weeks. Only 13 weeks to go then. Take care............ Tamy
  7. Congradulations on your Boy....... I'm just like you. I just knew this one would be a girl so when the tech told me it was a boy I was quite suprised. I'm hoping my boys will be great pals. Tamy
  8. I have been pregnant a total of 5 times. I have only carried one to full term and am now 18 1/2 weeks pregnant. My first pregnancy was twins and I was taking coumidan for PSD, unaware that I was pregnant until about 6 1/2 weeks. By 8 weeks I had miscarried one twin, I had the bleeding and cramping. By this time I had switched over to Lovenox injections but it was too late for my other twin. I lost this one at 16 1/2 weeks. After that I started the lovenox injections as soon as I started ttc. I miscarried two more times, both at 8 weeks. The other 3 losses there was no sigh of a miscarriage, my babies hearts had stopped. I am a strong believer of injections while ttc and getting your blood level check while pregnant (I usually have my tested every 3-4 weeks from a + hpt till about 36 weeks). During my last pregnancy I went from 40 mg twice a day at first to 80 mg twice a day starting at 10 weeks. With this pregnancy I started at 80 mg twice aday and am now at 100 mg twice a day. I'm a small framed person 5' 3" I started out weighing 126 with both pregnancies. Every one is amazed at how high my dose is. Sorry this is so long. 9. James, thanks for the information. I was just wondering because a doctor at a Oregon Health Science University told me that since I have PSD I could have another; like lupus or another clotting deficency. They did some testing of others but nothing came up positive. But she said they are developing new tests for others all the time. Thanks again, Tamy P.S. this site is a great........ I'm so happy I found it.
  10. James, glad to hear things are going well so far. I hope everything continues to improve. I do have a questions for you, when you have PSD are there other illness we maybe prone to? Thanks. Tamy
  11. Yodi, Congradulations. I hope delivery goes well for you tomorrow............ Take care...... Tamy
  12. Hello all, I was put on coumidan back in October of 1995 because of a DVT. I took it for about 6 months then came off. In early 1999 I thought I had another DVT so they put me back on the Coumidan. In August of 1999 I found myself pregnant while taking coumidan. I was switched over to Lovenox, but miscarried twins, one at 8 weeks, the other around 14-16 weeks. After that I was tested and told I had PSD and would be on coumidan for life. I also had 2 more miscarriages. I have not noticed any side effects. I do pretty well on the coumidan. I have a small frame (115 lbs, 5' 3"), but I require alot of thinning. I take 7.5mg of coumidan and 80mg twice a day of Lovenox while pregnant. Hope this info helps you.
  13. Hello everyone. Just thought I would let you all know that we are trying to have baby #2. We saw the high risk OB on Friday and he has me on 60mg of Lovenox twice a day and we'll test in about a week to see where that level is. He doesn't think it will take as long for us to get pregnant as it did with my little boy. I'll keep you all up to date on how the pregnancy goes when if finally happens. I hope it will help with any questions you all have on PSD and pregnancy. I posted off and on with my little boy, it was helpful to me, helped me with the stress. (after 4 miscarriages I was real worried about him). Take care.........
  14. I was told that I should never take the pill again. But I can have the Miridian IUD, which I do have and it has been fine.
  15. Good day everyone. I'm about one week away from starting Lovenox. I was wondering if any of you heard about the pre-filled injector pen, I think is what it is called. It's a spring loaded syringe. I'm going to ask my high risk OB about it. My problem with the lovenox is inserting the needle after I get past that it's not too bad. I'm hoping that this time with Lovenox doesn't take as long as the last. My last pregnancy I started before I got pregnant and that took 5 months. Then I countinued until 38 weeks when I was induced, then took it for another 6 weeks after. I had 4 losses before my little boy was born in June of 2002. For oll of them the doctors said they didn't think it was because of the PSD. But this doctor I'm seeing now thinks it was. I'm on coumidan for life and my mom has it too. Take care everyone...........
  16. Kim, to answer your question about being on Lovenox for the whole pregnancy. I started the Lovenox before I got pregnant, it took 5 months to get pregnant. Then I countinued until about 6 or 7 weeks after birth. I'm going to do the same this time. We go to see our High Risk OB (he's 3 hours away) on May 30th. Then we will see the OB I will see here on June 4th. I'm so excited to try. I just hope it doesn't take as long. Take care.
  17. Hi Kim, My name is Tamy and I've been off and on the Lovenox for about 3 years. I have had one successful pregnancy, I had a boy in June of 2002. There where no side effects to my son. I was induced at 38 weeks and he weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz., they do say that Lovenox can cause low birth weight. I also have PSD and had 4 pregnancy losses before my son. We are going to try for #2 this June. Congradulations on your pregnancy.........
  18. I have had 2 clots that I know of, both in my left leg. My doctor said because the hormones in the coil are so small it would be okay for me. I had a pregnancy with twins while taking coumidan, I was about 6 weeks when we found out. But I miscarried at 8 weeks with one twin and 16 weeks with the other. Now I start the lovenox when I start trying to conceive. Let me know if you have any other questions... Take care.
  19. Hi, I'm 33 and had my first DVT at age 25 (1995). I wasn't told I had PSD untill 1999, I got pregnant and lost twins in 1999. Then 2 more miscarriages. I'm on Coumidan for life. But am happy to say I have a wonderful little boy that is 8 months old and had few problems during the pregnancy. We're going to try for #2 this spring.
  20. Greeenfield, Thanks for the response. I'm going to ask his doctor at his 1 year check up in a couple months.

  22. Hi Megan, Just thought I would give you my history. I have PSD and have one child. 6 weeks after I had him I had the Mirena coil put in. That was almost 8 months ago and things seem to be going well. I have less bleeding and no side affects from the hormones. My doctor said that the hormones in it where very little and shouldn't effect my blood thinners. So far my INR's are with in limits. Well I hope this helps you....... Take care
  23. Hello all, I'm wondering when to have my son tested for PSD. Since I have it and his maternal grandmother has it and I know he has a 50/50 chance of inheriting it. Does anyone know when they should be tested. He's 8 months old now. Thanks, Tamy
